Our 9th anniversary celebration began by taking our boys to Grandmom and Granddaddy Rhodes's to be babysat for a day and night. Then we headed to one of our favorite browsing shops downtown - Hess's - and after about an hour, we left the store with 3 pottery dishes made by a local artist. We enjoyed a tasty meal together at the Earth and Tea Cafe downtown - Garlic Chicken Pita for Sylvia and a Chicken Avocado Pita platter for Martin. Then, since it was such a beautiful cool evening, we took a relaxing drive back to Singers Glen where we stayed at Leon and Elva Rhodes's cabin. We watched a movie, "Once", listened to some music, read, talked, reminisced, and soaked in the pleasure of simply being together without the interruptions and demands of parenting.
We were welcomed home with a nice gift from Dietrich (see above picture) that included a lovely potted flower in one of our new pottery dishes, Warfels fudge, and some gourmet bread dipping sauce from Carol Rhodes.
We'll have to have these outings more often!
