Friends. I'm seeking any advice on potty training because this coming week I plan on potty training Elliot. We haven't tried anything up until now besides occasionally letting him sit on the toilet to pee or poop. He's peed several times and pooped once, but we've not attempted anything serious yet - until this coming week. I would LOVE to have him potty trained in one week, with the exception of nap time and night time. He seems ready. As soon as he's pooped in his diaper, he tells us. And recently he's been telling me when he pees in his diaper. So, advice PLEASE. What have you tried that works or doesn't work?

That's what I think of all the advice we got about potty training; so much gibble-gook/balderdash/baloney, etc. We knew now more when we were done than when we started, but somehow it all worked out okay. Dad R.

Some may call it bribery, I call it motivation =) M&MS! Every time he goes in the potty, tell him what a big boy he is, and give him a m&m. Or a sticker chart. Or a box of little tiny treats he can chose something out of? Whatever he enjoys. Good luck Sylvia, it sounds like hes ready to learn. Hope he catches on quick. Oh and underwear. Put him in underwear, youll prob have lots of accidents, but esp if you are outside with him, its less to clean up inside. And he can feel when hes wet, and hopefully he wont like the wet feeling. If you can stay home as much as possible and really stick at it, that helps. Hope this helps some =)
