Beach 2011

One very early morning in mid August, 9 blurry eyed and very excited adults and kids piled in a VW conversion van for a 7 hour trip to Rodanthe NC. In addition to our family, Philip and Betsy and Brian and Rachel came along for the fun. Annaliese loved her first beach trip and made herself at home among the sand, waves and seagulls. With the ever present gulls, dogs and doting adults, she was in her element. The boys enjoyed their more assured footing in the waves and ventured further out than in the past. Philip, Brian and I enjoyed surfing the waves and the ladies enjoyed swimming and boogieboarding as well. The evenings were spent reading, writing, playing with trains, watching movies, playing games, walking to the ice cream parlor, and talking. The board game Ticket to Ride saw unending action and there were always Scrabble tiles strewn on the table for word games. A week went by in a flash and no one was very eager to leave.
