Our last week of complete freedom (maternity leave - post-Master's leave) arrived, and we took the opportunity to travel to Harrisonburg and Tenth Legion to spend time with family and see old friends. We enjoyed evenings at Sparkling Springs with the Rhodes', a celebration of Sam Witmer's birthday at the homeplace, and a tour of the new Witmer homestead (moving end of June). Sylvia and Elliot picnicked with Heidi Rhodes and her two children, and visited Audrey Martin and family. All three of us Rhodes' lunched with Celia and Craig Good and their 3 children. Sylvia's aunts from Canada also flew in, and we enjoyed spending time with them as well, getting beaten in Scrabble, and introducing them to Elliot.
We also took side trips from our Harrisonburg-Tenth Legion bases: to Salem Mennonite Church for worship on Sunday, and to Christiansburg on Wednesday evening for a baby shower/farewell send-off (moving to Greencastle PA) for Aaron and Danae Amstutz. Also on Wednesday in the morning I made a last minute trip back to Durham for an interview (see above post), and then came right back before leaving for Christiansburg.
The week ended with Martin heading to Bridgewater for a round of golf with his brothers. Dietrich proved to be the master of the links on this particular day, playing valiantly through the rain to defeat his elder brother on the second playoff hole of the second round (the first round wasn't as close).

So...did Dietrich win the first round as well? I'm pretty jealous - can't wait to get back in on the fun. I'm happy to see that the end of your break brings with it a re-entry to the blog world ;). I was beginning to roll my eyes at the blog happy headline after repetetive visits to more of the same (or not, depending how you look at it ;)).
